Our Story

Perfect and unique, was the plan God had in His heart for us when he lead us to move from Mexico City to Canada 13 years ago.New country, new culture and a new baby on the way. Andrea brought great joy into our lives.
Hard working and full of initiative, Alfredo found two jobs which he didn’t like at all.One in a gas station and another one in a grocery store. Shortly he quit at the grocery store but remained at the gas station for a while.
Later on,we found a church where we volunteered for 2 years until I got hired part time while Andrea was in preschool,Esteban was in grade 1 and Fernanda in kindergarten.Almost right after, God opened the doors for Alfredo with a job also in our church . He started working in the media department and enjoying it.
Terrible and stressful, was the time when Esteban was in grade 4, we started noticing the awful time he was having in school. After several attempts to make it easier for him, God showed me about homeschooling.
Without expecting it,I started meeting homeschoolers everywhere I went, so the research and learning about the new learning option began. Esteban’s teacher from grade 3 suggested me to read a book about Aspergers Syndrome. She had a nephew with similar challenges and wondered if Esteban could have the same. Open and desperate,I read the book in 2 days and while rreading, my eyes were open to what it seems to be my son’s profile.Certain and full of hope, I talked to Esteban’s teacher in grade 4, encountering a very proud and negative response from her just as if I was totally nuts.

We requested the assessment to our family Doctor and he referred us to a Psychologist. Esteban was diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome.Relieved and confused,we knew what to pray for; leaving aside anyother misconception or false idea we could have had in the past.

I quit my part time job and decided to homeschool Esteban. We pulled him out of school after spring break and started the new journey of homeschooling right away. The girls finished the school year and then, we brought them home too. God showed us that homeschooling was the best way to educate our kids with or without disabilities or challenges.

For us, homeschooling was a call from God. I believe every parent must have that call if they pray and understand the vision, the value and importance of educating their children at home.
I understand there are different situations that don’t allow parents to homeschool but by praying and asking God for guidance I am sure God can provide the time, ability and understanding required for the job.
Uncertain and unclear, God's plan was not easy to understand but over the years we understand it with clarity.Homeschooling and access to resources our son needed were part of this plan.

After attending our church for 5 years, things changed and we felt that the time had come to move to another church. We attended Christian Life Assembly for 1 year, and again God had other plans for us.

Alfredo was in need of a new job as our jobs were totally linked with our church.Unexpected and timely, Alfredo met the Dad of one of Fernanda’s friends and short after he offered Alfredo a job.
God worked in a miraculous way to bless us.
Alfredo became the IT head of the department and I became a homeschool Mom. After 1 year God opened the doors for us to buy a new home. We then moved to Chilliwack. We loved the area and found a homeschool community which we immediately joined.
After a while I started a homeschool co-op and our homeschool lives turned more stable. Since we moved, Alfredo has to commute to Langley but at least he never drives. God has always provided a ride for him as we have only one car.
Here in Chilliwack, we attended First Avenue Christian Assembly for 2 years but things changed when our Pastor moved so we moved also to a another church. City Life Church-formerly Glad Tidings Fellowship became our new church. We are so happy we took this decision. We have more freedom to worship and also more freedom in the Holy Spirit in the profetic area. This is the kind of church we grew up.
A couple of years ago,God blessed us with our first dog and 2 years ago with a van. Wow! things are getting better for us as we learn and accept God timing for our lives.
I believe God had taught us so much in these 13 years. He has helped us to grow and mature in many areas. He has taught us to depend on Him and also He had provided us with everything we need. He is never late!
I love my life and the assignment God has given me. It is not easy at times but I know I am not alone. God has given me the greatest and most honorable role for which I will always be grateful for. HOMESCHOOLING.
